Hadith
Believing in the Prophet is obviously
a basic fundamental in Islam. The Prophet taught us the Holy
Qur’an and also guided us to many Islamic teachings through His
words and actions which is known as the hadith. One cannot claim
to be a follower of Prophet Muhammad and reject a part of His message.
The hadith is therefore mandatory in Islam and without it the
Religion wouldn’t be complete. There is however hadiths that were
not transmitted with a strong chain of narration and are not relied upon in
certain rulings, but even in such case we must consult a specialist in the field
of this science. Some people pick and choose from the hadith
whatever appeals to their whims, may Allah protect us from such misguidance. The
hadiths relating to the basic belief are of greatest importance
since they guide us to understanding our faith.
Hadith
#1:
Kan Allahu wa lam yakun
shay’un ghayruhu
This contains the following meanings:
Allah existed eternally without a beginning and nothing else but Him existed.
Allah does not have a beginning and is not created.
Time, place, light and darkness are
creations of Allah, which have beginnings. This honorable hadith
shows us our inability to conceive the existence of Allah, and so the elite
scholars of Islam said that whatever crosses your imagination is a creation, and
Allah is not like that. This is our limit and we cannot cross it.
